Such a litte man

Grady is rapidly growing out of his clothes and although onesies are super functional, I love putting him in little outfits that make him look like a little man. I suspect his meemaw will especially like this one. I guess they really are like little dress up dolls for us sometimes, even the boys. :)

Check out the bruise there on the left side of his forehead. He's trying so hard to crawl and keeps falling on his noggin. His first bruise, well I guess all the milestones can't be rosey. :P

Teeth!

Not a great picture (colorwise) but you can see his one little tooth on the bottom there. He is getting three, that's right three, other teeth right now and it has made for some pretty fussy days. He pitched a fit with Sam on Thursday morning and apparently had another tantrum at daycare on Thursday. He seems to be getting the other bottom one and the two top ones all at the same time. Oh well I guess we'll get it all done at one time.

Grady had his very first fever last week. It got up to 102.9 at its highest. He was not a happy boy. I stayed home with him for two days and he spent most of that time sleeping on me. We all survived though and he is back to his happy go lucky self, well almost. (See next post)

Grady has been teething for a few weeks now and although you can't really see it in this picture he does have one little bottom tooth that has finally poked through. His cousin Ryan decided he needed this t-shirt from the Tennessee Aquarium. It says "I chew on everything." Seems appropriate. :)

Every time my mom and I go to have his picture made it is always after a bad napping day and we are convinced that the pictures aren't going to turn out well. Apparently the girl who works at the Olan Mills in Hixson, TN can work miracles because no matter how grumpy he seems to be she can always, always get this kid to make the cutest pictures. Last week was no exception.

Apparently Grady will not nap without his swing or his crib in his room. Here's where the indulgence of his Meemaw comes in. She rocked him on the swing outside on her deck for a good hour so he could get at least one good nap today. Thank goodness for wireless internet!

Vital Stats: 6 Months

Grady had his 6 month check up yesterday which meant more shots. He was not too pleased with that. Everything went well and he recovered from the shots pretty quickly. On the bright side, no more shots until he's a year old. He was given the okay to try veggie puffs before moving on to other finger foods. As you can see below he doesn't quite know what to make of them.

Now that the boy can sit up well he can actually sit in the shopping cart. I took him with me yesterday on my weekly trek to Kroger and he was so good. He particularly enjoyed banging on a box of rotini.

Grady has been rolling over from back to front in his sleep for a week or so but he's never done it during waking hours until today. Once he made the decision to roll on to his tummy he almost seemed to enjoy it. He certainly spent more time on his tummy without screaming than he ever has. He even did some push ups, maybe crawing isn't too far away after all. :)

I think he surprised himself by rolling onto his tummy.

We celebrated our first Father's Day yesterday. Sam got a pancake and bacon breakfast in the morning, then had a good portion of the day to do whatever he wanted while I ran errands with Grady. Grady did watch golf with his Daddy for a while though and actually quite enjoyed it.

Visiting Chattanooga

The whole family made a trek to Chattanooga for a family visit this past weekend. Sam and I also took the opportunity to celebrate our third anniversary with a stay at a B&B in downtown Chattanooga while Meemaw took care of the boy all night. Our visit included Colin's birthday party, family time, a trip to the Chattanooga Market, the IMAX and a trip to the Chattanooga Zoo. Someone taught Grady to stick his tongue out and now he won't put it back in.

Mother's Day

We celebrated our first Mother's Day this weekend. Grady and Sam gave me two wonderful presents—a locket with pictures of my boys (picture below) and 6 hours of consolidated sleep!

For everyone who doesn't know, we have been struggling to get Grady to sleep for more than 2 or 3 hours at a time for a couple of weeks now. He got into a bad habit of needing to nurse to fall asleep (totally my fault) so each time he'd wake up during the night he would need me to get up and feed him to get back to sleep. In addition to the nursing, he was also still being swaddled, sometimes sleeping in his car seat, and using a pacifier to fall asleep. All these things were keeping him from learning to soothe himself to sleep.

After many weeks of sleepless nights, we decided it was time for Grady to cry it out a bit and learn how to soothe himself to sleep without all the sleep props (swaddle, car seat, pacifier and nursing). We started last Wednesday and he's been doing pretty well. Last night he slept from 7:30 PM until 5 AM! He woke up at 5 wanting eat and after being fed and about 15 minutes of chattering to his bear he went back to sleep for another hour and a half. He probably would have continued to sleep but it was time to get up and go to daycare so I had to wake him. Needless to say this is a great improvement and as hard as it was to hear him cry that first night it was totally worth it for all of us!

It's summer time in Georgia and that means time to shave the doggles. This year we actually paid the good people at Pawtropolis to do it for us. (Thanks, Lauren!) And they did a wonderful job. Much better than we did last year! None the less, the dogs still look pretty funny shaved, even when it's done well.

Just when you think you have one thing licked, something else crops up. Grady's cold is lingering and now he has a case of viral conjunctivitis (pink eye) in both eyes. His eczema has also been flaring up so his face is flaky and red. Let's just say he's having an "ugly" week. Even during an ugly week he's still pretty dang cute. To continue the theme, he got two Uglydolls today. Sam and I think they are hilarious and Grady seems to like them as well. :)

Grady had his 2 month checkup today which included 3 shots. Two in the left thigh and one in the right. You can see him in the picture with band-aids on his little legs. He cried and cried and turned about 4 different shades of red during the shots.

He weighs 12 pounds and is now 23 1/2 inches long. He is in the 75th percentile for his height and between the 50th and 75th for weight. His head circumference is in the 95th percentile. He is a happy and healthy little boy.

Not only did he sleep for two blocks of five hours last night, but he let me sleep in my own bed the whole night! The catch is that he slept in his carseat in the crib. The Latest Addition to the Pittard Family

Grady Wilson Pittard was born at 10:11 PM on Friday, December 29, 2006 via C-section. Mama labored hard all day but ultimately the boy just would not come down. Mama, Dad and baby are all doing well.

My friend Molly and I have known each other for 10 years now. It just so happened that we got pregnant about a month and a half a part. Grady is due any day now and Baby Burnam should be along in mid-February.

So, our friends Brad and Erin Beasley have recently welcomed the newest addition to their family, Owen. They have also set up an oh so informative blog to chronical the happenings in young Owen's life. I greatly enjoy reading their blog on a regular basis so I thought I might set one up for us in an attempt to keep people informed on the happenings in our growing family. Just call me a big 'ole copy cat!
